Answer: go back to orthodontist!
By
Hello! Well chances are some of the composite or "glue" came off a tooth that the wire is attached too. Some people do not notice this until they go for a retainer check at the orthodontist. Some orthodontist do not place composite on all the teeth that it is attached to and only glue the end parts of them. I would suggest to go in to the orthodontist that completed the treatment and see what they can do for you. If a tooth has moved they should remove the fixed retainer right away. Hopefully they can make a different type of retainer that will move the tooth back into the place where it was when you got out of braces. They could make you a removable spring retainer to move the tooth back or they may make you an essix retainer. That one is clear and they can adjust on the model before making the retainer to allow the tooth to move back. I would not suggest placing a fixed retainer back on if this has happened already once the tooth is moved back into position. Chances are if you didnt notice this til now it will happen again. Better option is to wear the removable one at night time only. Sometimes if the tooth has moved too much they may need to place brces back on for a few months to move it back. Hopefully this isnt the case.
