Metal Braces and Invisalign
I have recently seen an orthodontist and since it was my first time, they only took pictures of my teeth but I have many questions that need answers. I have a crowding issue and I know I need teeth removed but I was wondering if it's possible to get metal braces on the bottom teeth and Invisalign on the top teeth?

It is possible to do, however, wouldn't be the most ideal or cost effective situation. Invisalign is a technology that uses scanned impressions of your teeth to create a series of aligners that move your teeth. so in order for you to have Invisalign on the top, you would need to have completed the traditional orthodontics on the lower first. There is no ideal situation for the coordination of the two. It would also be extremely lengthy and add additional lab costs to continue to send in new data and have additional aligners fabricated throughout treatment. If you are not a candidate for Invisalign on both arches, there is always the option of porcelain brackets that are more aesthetic for the maxillary or upper arch. Any other questions you have should be presented to the orthodontist. It is always a good idea to have a second opinion as well.
