Should 8 yr old see orthodontist

Hello! My 8 yr old has 4 lower adult teeth that are creating grooves in the roof of her mouth behind her upper front (adult) teeth. Her two upper front adult teeth also have a significant gap and are twisted apart. The outer corners of these teeth also show some wear (are wearing off into a curve). Our dentist wants to wait to see if her bite will correct itself once more teeth come in. She only has two adult teeth on top, with another halfway out. These issues do cause her pain in the roof of her mouth and sometimes she prefers soft foods because it hurts to eat. To me it looks like she has an overbite (though I know this can correct itself). I am concerned that if she does need a spacer or something like that and we wait her teeth could become damaged and it may be easier to fix things now, so other adult teeth can come in better. Should we see an oral surgeon about snipping the band of tissue between her front teeth? (Would this allow her front uppers to straighten out?) Should we see an orthodontist? Or should we listen to our dentist and wait it out until she has more adult teeth in? I have additional photos if that would help, but could only upload one.
