Safety of immediate implants vs delaying 4-6 months after extraction

I am a 67-year old male, with Type 1 Diabetes, which moderately controlled HA1C about 8. I have seen two dentists for treatment plans for tooth extraction and implants and they both agree that I need major work because of many teeth that cannot be saved: short roots, bone loss, gum disease. The recommendation is that a few teeth in lower jaw can be saved, and none in upper jaw. Plan is to have 3 extractions below and 4 implants (there is also a bridge connected to one of the teeth that will be extracted). Above, there are already some missing teeth, but all of remainder will be extracted (10 or 11 teeth, I think). Recommended solution for upper is 5 implants and a removable acrylic denture. For both upper and lower, bone grafts and sinus uplifts have been recommended due to existing bone loss. My question is whether it is a good idea to do immediate implants after extraction or to allow more healing time. I know there are pros & cons each way. I am concerned about the "healing load" since I am diabetic. Two docs in USA have not even mentioned the option for immediate implantation, but I heard about it from a clinic in Mexico and have seen online that it is being used increasingly. It would be a lot more convenient to move through the process more quickly. Can you provide some advice?
