Piercing And Wisdom Teeth?

Hi I am 18 and have recently gotten a piercing that is under the tongue. I am going for an wisdom teeth consultation tomorrow and I know they will be taking an x ray that will show the piercing, if I ask politely will it be allowed for them not to tell my mother that I have the piercing and to not show the x rays to her but just me since I am no longer a minor and got the piercing legally. Thank You

As the patient, you have a right to privacy. The office must respect your privacy as an adult, even though you are bringing a parent with you. The office may ask for you to remove the piercing if they need to take a diagnostic radiograph, which can be replaced immediately after it is complete. If the piercing is metal, it can obstruct the image being captured. If you tell the dental/surgical assistant and dentist, I am sure they will respect your wishes and keep your privacy in the matter. It is also important that they discuss pre-op and post-op instructions in regards to the piercing as well.
