Jaw asymmetry

I was wondering if you could take a look aat the x-ray photo to determine whether the left side of my jaw grew bigger than the left. If this is the case, what treatment options are there to correct this problem? Ive heard of dental appliances, are there any others?

It is difficult to diagnose jay irregularities from a two dimensional radiograph. In order to diagnose and treat any abnormality, you would need to have a CT scan completed. This would allow an oral surgeon to diagnose you properly at a consultation visit along with an intra-oral and extra-oral examination. There is not any necessary treatment for jaw asymmetry unless it is causing pain or malocclusion. Most dental appliances are placed during adolescence while you are still developing and the maxilla has not completely fused. After a consultation and diagnosis with an oral surgeon, you may need to see an orthodontist, as many times the two will develop a treatment plan together for the best overall treatment goals and outcome.
