Inflamed gums need help

I recently went for a check up at the dentist and he said I need to see a hygienist to get my teeth cleaned and I have gum disease but he didn't say if it was mild or aggressive. I then went to get my teeth cleaned by the hygienist she took all the tartar off them and polished them and I asked if my gums would improve and she said yes I will see some improvement soon. It has been nearly 4 weeks now, although my gums look pinker they are still a bit inflamed, have I not gave enough time for them to improve more or should I go to the dentist again? I'm really worried

You should see some improvement from your initial visit. Be sure you are brushing at least twice a day and flossing. Flossing is key when trying to resolve gingivitis. Warm salt water rinses will also help with the healing. Sometimes more than one visit with the dental hygienist is necessary in order to resolve it completely, especially if it has been a long time since you have had professional care. If you are still concerned, make a follow up with your dental hygienist and have her discuss your tissues as well as review oral hygiene instructions.
