r. Rovner was born and raised in Des Moines and
graduated from Roosevelt High School. He's earned three degrees from
the University of Iowa, including a Bachelor of Science from the College
of Liberal Arts (BS), a Doctorate from the College of Dentistry (DDS),
and a Master of Science in Orthodontics (MS). Other accomplishments
include a Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Iowa,
Department of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association Student
Preventive Dentistry Award, and appointment by the Governor of Iowa to
the Iowa State Dental Board.
During his post-graduate orthodontic studies at the University of Iowa,
Dr. Rovner was involved in multiple research projects, including his
Master's thesis devoted to the development of a revolutionary new alloy
and the practical application for use in clinical orthodontics. He was
honored to conduct these studies under Dr. George Andreasen, the founder
of the Nitinol alloy, which is currently used world-wide. Dr. Rovner
also credits his excellent education to his mentor and former head of
the Department of Orthodontics, Dr. John Casko, and a distinguished
faculty including Dr. Robert Staley and Dr. Samir Bishara.
The Central Iowa Orthodontics practice was established by Dr. Rovner in
1978. The Des Moines office has remained in the same location since
inception, although additional locations were added over the years in
Newton, Altoona, and Waukee. Dr. Rovner had been blessed by a dedicated
staff over the years, who have helped to deliver the finest quality of
service and care to patients throughout central Iowa. We commonly see
second and third generation patients who's parents and grandparents
still have fond memories of their treatment experience. Furthermore,
our practice strives to incorporate the latest in technological
advancements within our techniques for the sake of efficiency, quality,
and patient comfort.
Dr. Rovner has a passion for his family and sports of all kinds. He has
two daughters who are former state tennis champions and went on to
compete for four years at Washington University in St Louis and Wesleyan
University in Connecticut, respectively. Dr. Rovner and his wife,
Cindy, also acquired Iowa High School Coaching Certificates to coach the
Valley High School girls to a team tennis state championship when their
youngest daughter was a junior. Dr. and Mrs. Rovner were members of a
United States Tennis Association team which won two consecutive national
championships in Tucson, Arizona. Basketball, softball, golf, and
bowling are among long-time interests of Dr. Rovner, let alone Hawkeye
football. He takes special pride in seeing his daughters currently
enjoy their careers in law and medicine.
