Is it unusual to have brackets without wirings for a month?
So i just got my braces (well part of them). I went to go get an orthodontic consultation. Initially i just wanted to go and see the pricing on how much it would cost me. Apparently my jaw has a massive overbite with two impacted canines so the price was whopping but thankfully the monthly price was affordable. Anyways, back to the question. I was interested and got through with it. I was then asked to lay back after a few tests and they had installed the brackets right at that moment. I didn't think they would install them which drew me from surprise. Then I had a deep clean the next morning on one side and I have the other next week on the other side. So, my next official appointment is next month. That means i have to roll around with only brackets in my mouth without wirings for a whole darn month which is so odd. Also, my mouth has been sore from the brackets, though I resolved it by adding dental wax. So, is this normal? I don't think I have seen anyone with just brackets only, let alone for a whole month. What is the purpose of this? I could ask my orthodontist but they're closes for the weekend and I work a lot during the week that I dont have time to go. Also, i just wanted to know from the point of view of people who had braces themselfs. Sorry, i could've made this question a lot shorter but I wanted to provide the most details as i could to make it clear. Thank you. And have a great day!
