Will I need appliances

I’m just wondering if I will need any appliances with my braces cause my ortho said nothing as of yet, I’m getting the braces at the end of the month I have class 1 malclussion with poor arch coordination. She hasn’t said I will need appliances as of yet besides elastics and braces for approx 22 months. So I’m looking for some suggestions on what appliances I could end up with or just elastics. I’m 34 yrsold as well

Answer: Appliances

Usually, orthodontic appliances are placed prior to full banding of brackets and wires.  If appliance therapy was not discussed between you and your orthodontist, more than likely, it is not necessary.  Most orthodontic appliances are custom fabricated by a dental laboratory.  They are also an additional cost outside of braces, even if the treatment is required.  Elastics are usually worn in a variety of patterns to correct the bite after initial alignment.  In many cases, elastics are worn during the final phases of treatment.  Unless a specific appliance was discussed, more than likely it is not necessary.
