Problem wearing temporary retainer over foxed retainer

I got my braces removed two years back and my dentist installed fixed retainers for both my upper and lower jaws and gave me temporary retainers to wear over them. But last year my retainers on upper jaw felt too tight so I tried to adjust it by myself but I couldn\'t fix the retainer back on my teeth and had to go to another dentist to get it adjusted as I was away from town and couldn\'t reach my dentist. He did adjust the retainer, but it felt quite uneasy wearing it so I stoppe wearing it. Now after a year I came to my dentist yesterday and said that my upper retainer is too loose. She made it tight but after wearing it when I remove my retainers while I eat, my teeth feel numb and the numbing feeling does go away after 15-20 minutes. But I\'m concerned as I already have fixed retainers on my teeth and my temporary retainers shouldn\'t be putting as much pressure on the teeth so that it numbs them. Should I consult my dentist or will this be normal after a few days?
