Can i get a temp crown without root canal?

I have a bad phobia of the dentist subsequently leading to poor teeth. My front tooth have snapped slightly above gum line. Is it possible to get a temp crown and without root canal treatment to save me the embarrassment until I can explore the options open to me for a permanent option. I can not ignore this but also my phobia is bad and I need a temp fix asap with minimal treatment. Thanks in advance

Answer: Temporary Crown

If the tooth is broken off near or at the gum line, there will not be sufficient tooth structure to adhere the temporary to. The reason a root canal is necessary is to place a post and build the tooth up enough to adequately prepare and place a crown on the tooth. Dentists are prepared to provide comfort to apprehensive patients. It is the best option to keep your natural tooth if that is a possibility. You do not want to delay treatment and allow the condition to worsen or an abscess to develop. If it does, there is a possibility you will need the tooth out and not only is the treatment more extensive, it is more costly too. Schedule a consult and ask all questions regarding your treatment needed to make you feel comfortable. Your dentist can also give you a prescription medication to relax you prior to your appointment. The goal is to make you feel comfortable and to restore your tooth to full function and cosmetics.
