Face Swelling

My face on one side swells, along with my upper eye lid and and upper lip on 5 different occasions. I have been to my alergist and i'm not having any problems on that end. Also I 've had problems shallowing while everything else is going on. My boss feels that it could be a dental problem, even thought the symptons go away after i take Allegra. I havent been to a dentist in years because of a mean one I had as a kid. It's been about 10 years since i've seen one. I have also had my thyroid checked and levels were normal.

Answer: infection

It could be a sinus infection or yes can be related to dental issues. IF you have an infection in one of your teeth it can lead to swelling of the face and throat. This is not something thou should let go any more. I would set up an dental check up and have them take x-rays. It can lead to more harsh things later in the road. You may need a root canal done or possibly just a filling done. Some people that have never had their wisdom teeth removed have these issues as well. They can cause severe pain and swelling as you discribed. It would again be a good idea to go have them checked up. Taking an over the counter prescription can get rid the symtoms for short term but remember until you find the source of the problem and have it taken care of you are just masking the issue at hand. When you go for your dental appointment advise the dentist of past traumatic problems with the dentist and they may give you a light sedative before having any work done in the future to make it more pleasant for you.
